μ`s ミュージックスタート! | μ`s Music Start!

With Honoka distraught after quitting μ, it doesn’t seem like the situation between them are going to get any better.
Eri has decided to put μ on hiatus to allow everyone to reflect on the series of events that had happened over the past few weeks. μ without all the nine members doesn’t feel right to me so I’ll give Eri props to her decision there. With all this doom and gloom hanging about μ might have certainly looked like it was going for a permanent hiatus.

Honoka was given some space to ponder about what she really wants. The coincidental encounter with her classmates made her realize the efforts that she had put to make her goal of being a school idol a success. I kinda guessed that the Arcade Rhythm Dance game was gonna be a piece of cake for Honoka. I was worried for a second there when Honoka just stood there without moving. That might’ve lead to her breaking down or something. Since this is Love Live after all, I don’t thing that sort of scenario would have fit with the overall mood of the show.

Kotori | Honoka

After that, her brief encounter with Hanayo, Rin and Nico as well as Eri’s home visit to Honoka’s house gave her a definite push towards in realizing what Honoka herself wanted to do. Though I wonder why she had decided to quit μ so willingly in the first place I don’t quite get that. Was Kotori leaving the group that much of an emotional strain to her? In that case, persuading Kotori to stay here with her would be the obvious solution.

That was what Honoka did after her confrontation with Umi. What made Umi mad wasn’t that Honoka was being dense, it was that Honoka was being too passive or rather not stubborn enough to force Kotori to stay. I gotta admit I was laughing at that revelation. But that’s what I came to expect after twelve episodes of Love Live!

In the end, Honoka got what she wanted, μ back together, as they performed one last performance (START-DASH!!) for the series.

μ’s Unite!

Before starting this series, I wasn’t expecting much from this series. Just cute girls doing cute things. To be honest that was probably what they did most of the time but there were plenty of character development in between. Most of the character development was because of each idol member’s interaction with Honoka. She was the main character of the show. She inspired people, gave them the courage to do what they normally would not do on their own.

Those eyes 0_0

Take Hanayo for example. She was at first a nervous, bespectacled girl, dreaming to be an idol since she was very young. Her initial hesitance at joining μ went on till she met Honoka and agreed to join. Honoka took the opportunity to coerce Maki and Rin to join too of course. She’s cheeky that way.

Given that she had helped her friends to overcome their inhibition in the first half of the series, it seems fitting that the other idol members, in their own little way, help Honoka realize her desire. To want Kotori to stay. Kotori too seem to have wanted to stay but was too hesitant to do so. Those damned idiots -_-

Such manly tears…

It was kinda disappointing that Nozomi didn’t get much back story and character development. She came across as this mastermind that made her machinations go JUST AS PLANNED! Maybe next season perhaps?

I would hope so. The problems that ARISE (sorry bad pun) did tie together nicely in the end so there isn’t a real need for a new season. It would be a shame to leave it like that. There’s plenty more content to be had like rival idol groups, more back story to Nozomi’s past and of course a re-entry to Love Live!

Well here’s me hoping for one… Music Start!

And with that, Love Live has finally come to a close.
